Redneck Representation and an Anniversary!!

Now ya'll know I am just as country as the next person - But I do believe there is a difference in some of us country folks -Saturday night I am scrolling through Facebook and I keep seeing all these post about My Big Redneck Vacation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzvOL6p5S3M- and Bayou Billionaires so of course I have to find out what all the fuss is about - because they're about people from Shreveport. Little did I know how much of a disappointment it would be ( I have to keep watching because it's kinda like a train wreck you can't turn away from :/) Really, now I know they're are people in Louisiana who have a little less class than some (heck, I'm pretty sure there are some of those in EVERY state!!) but why for the love of pete do these shows always have to come from Louisiana!!! The link I posted doesn't show the one scene that really got in my crawl - where the "ladies" (and I use that term loosely) go the market in The Hamptons and ask the butcher for NUTRIA RAT and RACCOONS!!!! Are you kidding me??? WE DO NOT EAT THOSE THINGS!!! and better yet, you CAN NOT find those in markets HERE (it's illegal to resale wild game!!!) so why did these woohoo's think they could buy them there! Just to make us ALL look like stark raving lunatics? Now, that I'm through ranting about these goobers from (I was told) DeSoto parish - if anyone is interested in seeing real Southern women (families) and how we behave and yes that includes but is not limited to: having fun with our families, church going, family dinners that do not include beer, watching kids play ball, having friends over to grill out, hunting, fishing, water sports on Lake Claiborne) - I'll be glad to give you our address!! As for the Bayou Billionares http://www.cmt.com/show/bayou_billionaires/series.jhtml - seeing as how I'm not getting any money from the Haynesville Shale - and I'm trying to be has happy as possible for those who are, they didn't grate my nerves quite as bad other than their crazy trip to the Shreveport Country Club which I think was for the sole purpose of acting like gomers just for TV.
Sorry for my rant, I'm actually pretty proud to be from Louisiana - it's a gorgeous state - if you get out of the mud pits!!!

Ok - on to the good part!! Michael and I celebrated 12 years of wedded bliss yesterday. Well, maybe not "bliss" but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Every year we have challenges and every year we perservere. We've both grown these past 12 years - in our hearts and our pants size!! but there's just more to love and I'm looking forward to 50 more years with him!! I say this regularly, that we are so blessed to be surrounded by couples who are reaching their Golden Anniversary or have already reached this awesome milestone. It gives us such hope and anticipation for the future!!

Well, thanks for reading this blog - sorry for the "rant"  and thanks for all the WELL WISHES on our anniversary!!

Peace, Love, and Country Living (my way)

Psalm 143:7 -8 - a bit of a ramble at best!!

Wow!! Did this speak to me this morning?!?!?!?! (Not so much the depresssing part as the "Show me where to walk part!!" )
As I was perusing Pinterest like I'm prone to do, oh, say about 20 hours aday...I found this picture. I knew it was a Psalm but I had no idea which one. So, instead of doing the "smart" thing, I did the "Jennifer" thing, I read every 7th verse of every Psalm - and it took me a while -and I did eventually Google it because I have a NIV Bible so it was worded different and I didn't catch it when I was reading. But when I did figure it out I actually already had it underlined in my Bible. Now that in itself speaks volumes to me, but what is really cool about this - while I was ready every 7th verse of every Psalm - just about every one related to my life!!! God's ways are amazing. I'll admit...I'm not a "lover" of the Psalms - as of yet...because usually they confuse me!! I totally own up to that. David totally has his own way of writing that sometimes I just don't get it...but then there's the time when God opens my mind and I actually "get it!!" and it's totally like a light bulb! And this was one of those times!! My Bible reading this morning talked about being able to discern His word - If you're feeling adventurous read Matthew 13:24-46 - its The Parable of The Weeds. I bet He'll open your mind too!!

Oh yeah!! Today is Friday and I'm so glad about that!! My crazy husband woke up at 2:00 am to go duck hunting so we'll see what kind of great mood he's in this evening!! Especially since at about 9:30 they had killed no ducks!! The Princess of course has plans and I have a party to go to tonight so we'll see what the boys have planned to get into to!! I love the weekend!! (Who doesn't?) So I hope ya'll have a good one!!

Today...I start...

I love to read blogs...actually I'm pretty obsessed with a few!! So I thought, what the hay, I can do this.
Since this IS my first official blog, I'll tell about our family.

Michael also known as "my rock" and known to the kids as "daddy" (of course!!)

Me - Jennifer- wife to "the rock" and mommy cubed!!

Dash - "the teenager" - what more can I say - loves baseball and anything outdoorsy :)

Jilly (Lou to us - don't ask) - obviously "the princess" - to me anyway - her brothers, not so much :(

Shane Michael - well he's still "my baby" but he doesn't so much like that name anymore (too bad, get over it)

We live in the great state of Louisiana in the booming metropolis of Dubach - home to the Chicken Festival!! woohoo!! Yes you read that right!!
Michael works for a natural gas company and I am the secretary at our church FBC-Dubach. Our kids go to Simsboro Elem/High School - Geaux Tigers!!
We keep it pretty simple, pretty country, and thats fine by me!! I'm learning to be happy in MY moment!! I love my Lord and want to serve Him daily but I feel I fall extremely short of His plans for me, but I also know He'll ultimately turn me into the woman He knows I can be. And for that I'm eternally grateful!!
This was fun!! Until next time :)
